BLOOD WEDDING

We are excited to announce this year’s production is Federico Garcia Lorca’s BLOOD WEDDING, a poetic tragedy with dance and music. Scripts are available in room 503. Kate Bridges will direct, Lisa Goldschein will choreograph, and Paul Itkin will produce. The production dates are Thursday, November 5th; Friday, November 6th; Saturday, November 7th; and Sunday, November 8th.
Casting will begin next week, Monday, September 14th during 6th period Play Production and will continue through 7th period; the final day of auditions will be Wednesday, September 16th. Rehearsals will begin immediately and go from 6th period until five o’clock. When we get closer to performance - approximately, the middle of October - we will rehearse until six p.m. There will also be two Saturday rehearsals prior to the opening - Saturday, October 24th and Saturday, October 31 - I know, I know, it’s Halloween, but I’ll let you guys out early! The week of the performance (November 1st) we will be staying until eight or nine. During the nights of the performances the call time will be at 5 p.m.; curtain will be at 7 p.m.; the show will be over at about 9 p.m. and your parents will be picking you up at 9:30.
As you can see, BLOOD WEDDING, like all the shows you have been in, will be a huge time and energy commitment! In addition, you are expected to maintain a 2.0 average. If your midterm average is below 2.0 November 1st, you cannot do the show.
Because creating a show is fun, exhilarating and exhausting, there are a few rules we need to follow so that this is a wonderful experience for all of us:
Be punctual. If you are consistently late and we have to wait for you, you will be fired from the show. It is inconsiderate to make people wait for you and it wastes valuable time.
Be there! We cannot rehearse with you if you are not there. Plan your personal needs - eating, going to the bathroom, etc. - so that they do not conflict with the rehearsals. If we have to go looking for you and we find you down at “IN-and-OUT” rather than at rehearsal, then - yup, you guessed it! - you’ll be fired.
Be professional. Leave personal issues outside of the rehearsal. If you do have issues with someone in the show, please let Ms. Bridges, Ms. Goldschein or Mr. Itkin know.
Come prepared! Bring your script, a pencil, and appropriate rehearsal clothes every day to rehearsal.
Learn your lines, blocking and choreography in a timely manner.
Listen to the directors and follow directions. If you have an idea you’d like to suggest - great! Share it with us and we’ll see if it works. But always be respectful of other people’s opinions and work.
No talking, goofing off, playing around, text messaging, cell phone or i-pod use during rehearsal. No explanation needed.
Now, with all that said, we genuinely hope this is a wonderful, fun experience for you that you will look back on with great fondness. Break a leg, everyone!

Sincerely,

Kate Bridges
Director
