Bree-Anna: Only presentation of her self-written monologue.
Young mom who was a heroin addict has been clean for a year and is about to regain custody of her daughter tomorrow.  She is speaking to her therapist and confesses that she placed herself in jeopardy by going to a junkie friend’s apartment,  which triggered her desire to do drugs again. Has script.

Sam: Final presentation.
Changed significantly since first presentation – much shorter and lacking in detail about coming to this country and having a daughter.  Thirty-nine year old waitress is being fired by young guy who has taken over the restaurant she works at and wants to make it young and hip.  Will turn in her script tomorrow.

Modi: Final presentation
Last day of school but not ready to give final scene with Gus.
Seventeen year old who is pregnant from being raped by her stepfather confronts her bullies at school.

Daniel:
Final Presentation
Twenty-four year old brother confronts his slacker eighteen year old brother about his grades and asking him to buy alcohol for him – this after they lost their father to a drunk driver.
Will give me script tomorrow. 

Akili: 
On Thursday, with his finals scene, "The Conference", with Cheyenne.  Has script for his self-written monologue but not typed.

Monday, December 5th:

Tuesday, December 6th:  
Monologue Presentations today:
Jessyka: injured her boyfriend when she pushed him for kissing another girl; now she is frantic after she realized what she has done.

Michele: "Chantal", thirty four years old. Husband is a construction worker and she is a daycare worker. He has come home late again - 1 a.m. - drunk and abusive. She has had enough.

Jess: Online dater. Ryan (played by Beverly) is her sixteenth date. She plays a litany of things she has done to make her online presence more interesting - avid skier (though she's only skated and broken her leg doing that), gourmet cook but can only do popcorn and cereal, etc., and a litany of disastrous
online dates. But when Ryan expresses interest in her, she tells him she is looking for someone a little younger and more her type.

Wednesday, December 7th: 


Students who have finished their research papers and/or their final presentations of their monologues must find a scene and a partner for their final acting scene.
Students must present the titles of their final scenes and the names of their scene partners today:

Asked questions about who the characters are; where are they, who are they talking to, what do they want, what is central conflict? 

Initial Presentations: 
Modi: "Ava Montgomery", fifteen year old girl who is seven months pregnant; raped by her step-father; ridiculed by other students and called names - like "slut". "Ava" finally snaps during class and rages at her tormentors. 

Beverly: "Erin", thirty-one years old, desperately wants children, but is has been  told that she is sterile. She is in the doctor's office.

Miriam: "Ali Marie", married, has two children, her father was involved with the drug cartels. He abandoned her when she was thirteen because she wasn't a boy.  She was taken in and raised by a kindly family who owned her favorite ice cream place. Years later, she is now the kingpin of the cartel and she has set up a surprise visit with her dad to reveal that she did what he thought only a son could do - take over and run the drug cartel.

Theatre Research Paper for Play Production and Intermediate Acting Class 


The research paper must be about theatre and the topic must be pre-approved by the teacher.
The research paper must be:
Eight pages in length
12 font
Double spaced 
Pictures may be used but there must be eight pages of text

Citations: 

The work must be cited 
Please go to the library website and use the “Research Help” section to learn how to cite your work 
The paper must have five sources: 
Three sources must be from books (which may be online)
Two from reputable websites 
You may also use documentaries 
You must have five bibliography listings on your bibliography page

Requirements and Due Dates: 

You must have twenty four notecards for your research paper 
(If you don’t know how to do that, consult the “Research Help” section on the Hollywood High Library website) 
You must have an outline for the research paper 
You must have a bibliography page listing your five sources
