Work on monologues: working with a partner toss an object representing the operative word to the other person, trying to convey the idea of the operative word to the other person.
Work with: Karla Gutierrez on AS YOU LIKE IT.

Tuesday, March 17th:

Warm-ups:
"Shields and Bombs"

Pick one person in group who is your bomb but do not tell that person s/he is your bomb; now, choose someone who is your shield, but do not tell that person s/he is your shield. When the director yells, “Bomb!” if the shield is not between you and your bomb, then you are dead!

Next Warm-up: "Carnival" from The Theatre of the Oppressed
Actors stand in a circle. Someone steps into circle to introduce a sound and a movement; everyone imitates; another person enters from the circle to take over and introduce another sound and movement. 


Pair up with your scene partner:

Objective: do whatever you can to make your scene partner laugh! But you cannot touch the scene partner!

Warm-ups:

Cat and Mouse
Students pair up
Students decide which is the cat and which is the mouse.
The cat chases the mouse. If the cat eats the mouse then the cat becomes the mouse. The mouse can avoid the cat if s/he links up with another pair. The person furthest away from the mouse becomes a dog and chases the cat. 

Statues:
Four students are on stage. One of the students is the sculptor who "sculpts" the other actors in various humorous sculpture like poses. When the "sculptor" is finished, the sculptures become alive and begin a  scene based on the poses of their sculptures. They cannot move out of the poses.

Thursday, March 19th:


Warm-up:
Random topic: coffee, liars, etc.
Someone lays down a beat
Others in a group create a song, or a rap about the subject

Shakespeare Scene Rehearsal:
Katia, Xocee: Julius Caesar
As the actors read the scene, the actors toss a ball back and forth. The ball encapsulates the idea or objective or desire of the line. The actor throws the ball in the way that expresses her/his objective.

No rehearsal today. Ms. Bridges will be at an all day conference
Very few students were present, so we did not rehearse Shakespeare. 
The Ss who were there participated in 2 improv warm-ups called Symphony of Emotions & I Am a Tree
Then they broke into two casts and created improv-compositions. They were given an outline that included a list of theatrical and script elements that they had to incorporate into a Seven-Scene Story.  These were:

Zombie Apocalypse Love-Triangle created & performed by Christian F., Royer, Chynna, & Cynthia
Hollywood Murder Mystery created & performed by Jeriah, Chelsy, Amber; Tigran

I was really very impressed with the stories that they came up with.
